More About Me & My Vision

My Toastmasters journey started in Cape Town, South Africa. When I attended my very first club meeting, the Toastmasters I saw in action that night exceeded all my expectations. I immediately knew I would join. I wanted to become as confident and competent as they were. Toastmasters clearly was a place I could learn, develop my skills and have fun.
My Toastmasters journey has allowed me to work with committed, talented members and leaders from Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In the process, I’ve developed a multinational, multicultural awareness of the challenges we face.
My vision for Toastmasters is that
-
We become truly global. That means that you have the support you need to succeed in your role, irrespective of where you live in the world. You have marketing materials appropriate for your District.
-
There is a meaningful dialogue between our Members, our Districts and the Board.
-
My vision is that our Technology continues to improve to make it easier to do business with Toastmasters International.
-
I believe our Recognition programs need to be relevant, not only to those few Districts experiencing rapid growth, but to those Districts and leaders in slower- growing markets as well.
Let's Exceed Expectations
As we rebuild after the pandemic, it is essential that we innovate and exceed expectations at all levels of the organisation. To achieve this, we need to engage with our members and leaders, offer them relevant support and partner with them every step of the way.
My Leadership Style
I believe in delivering results through people and relationships, not at their expense.
My people skills have allowed me to build strong teams that achieve exceptional results. My collaborative leadership style makes for a positive working environment and cohesive teams. One of my key strengths is the ability to inspire and motivate others.
I think deeply, encourage my team to ask the hard questions and always work collaboratively to see the bigger picture: Does this make sense? What problem are we solving? How do we keep things simple and also achieve our desired outcomes?
I look forward to our conversations, to understand what specific challenges you face as well as to listen to your ideas.
